Sail Among Turkey’s Ancient Treasures
Archaeological tour specialist Peter Sommer Travels will uncover the remote treasures of Turkey’s ancient past this June on an eight-day sailing expedition along the magnificent Carian Coast.
Travelling aboard a traditional wooden gulet, the expedition sails west from Göcek to Bodrum, visiting spectacular sites like ancient Halicarnassus while exploring a beautiful and virtually undeveloped coastline.
The tour, Cruising the Carian Coast – from Mediterranean to Aegean, is hosted by archaeologist and BBC documentary maker Peter Sommer and visits remarkable ruins at sites like Kaunos with its exquisite rock-cut temple tombs, and the stunning marbled city of Knidos with its scenic double harbour.
Other destinations include ancient towns like Phoenix and Lydae, set in remote and beautiful locations that remain completely untouched.
This cultural tour in Turkey is a perfect combination of magnificent sites, quiet coves, rewarding walks, breath-taking vistas and refreshing swims.
The eight-day tour runs June 2-9, 2013, and costs from £2,065 per person twin share (approx A$3160) including seven nights’ accommodation and all meals aboard a traditional gulet, all crew services, entrance fees, archaeological excursions, expert guide and airport transfers. Price excludes flights (begins Dalaman, ends Bodrum).
