Meet South Africa in Sydney
South African Tourism in partnership with the South African High Commission revealed a special photography exhibition to celebrate 20 years of freedom in South Africa.
Earlier this year, five talented photographers embarked on a trip of a lifetime to South Africa after being carefully chosen for the campaign. Their assignment was to capture South Africa and the evolution of the Rainbow Nation. For the first time, the captivating work of David Kirkland, Roderick Eime, Adriean Price, Ziaohan Shen and Dominic Longeragan was on display to mark the occasion.
Throughout the exhibition, guests had the opportunity to take the essence of South Africa home as prints were being sold with all funds raised going to go to a cause close to Nelson Mandela’s heart, Afrika Tikkun. A charity dedicated to investing in education, health and social services for children, youth and their families.
Pleased with the result, Her Excellency Ms Koleka Mqulwana from the South African High Commission expalined that all donations would so positively affect communities in South Africa and Ms Lalie Ngozi, South African Tourism General Manager, Australasia said “Through the lens, we are tapping into the insight of Australians who have discovered our beloved country. The resulting images in the exhibition both challenge perceptions, while inspiring conversation and, we hope, inspire visitors to meet South Africa first hand.”
Australians also had the chance to win their own photographic safari in South Africa, or one of ten runners’ up prizes thanks to South African Airways, Sabi Sabi and Tamron by posting a photo of what freedom means to them on South African Tourism AU Facebook.
