Tatyana Leonov – Avid Traveller and Dreamer
Tatyana Leonov is a writer, editor, avid traveller and determined dreamer.
She’s mastered (beginners’) yoga in Goa, partied with Russia’s elite in a Moscow club, sampled local delicacies all around the world (including a camel burger in Morocco and guinea pig in Peru), trekked to Nepal’s Annapurna Base Camp in Havaianas and had a short-lived career as a Bollywood star.
My favourite destination is Paris. The fist time I traveled to Paris I was on my own and immediately fell in love with the people, the culture (and the food, always the food). There’s just something about locals cycling past with paper bags full of fresh baguettes and aromatic (or stinky, call it what you like) cheeses.
I raved on about Paris to my [now] husband so we went back the following year.
He proposed to me in front of the Eiffel Tower – it was incredible, romantic, mind-blowing – and Paris is unquestionably my top location now. My husband knows where to plan a milestone-wedding anniversary when the time comes….
Tatyana’s travel tips
– Talk to locals. They usually know more than the guidebooks.
– Shop responsibly. Where you can purchase locally-made goods – whether it’s a market stall in Laos or a department store in France, the same concept should always apply.
– Don’t be afraid to ask for an upgrade. If you don’t ask you definitely won’t get one. If you do ask – you may not either – but you might!
